Fremont County is located in Southwest Iowa, along the Missouri River. It was named for John C. Fremont, a military officer.
The seat is Sidney while the largest city is Hamburg. It is the southwestern most county in Iowa.
It borders Mills and PAge counties in Iowa, Atchison County in Missouri, as well as Otoe and Cass Counties in Nebraska.
Main highways include I-29, US-59, US-275 and IA-2.
